Obituary of Roger Alan Ryan

Roger Alan Ryan, 74, passed away at home on June 22, 2018. Born in Belfast to the late Raymond and Lorena Ryan, he grew up on the family farm on the Ryan road in Northport and has resided in Belmont for more than 50 years. Roger was known to be a charitable and caring man. He loved making children smile by teasing with them or by giving a random child he may have seen in a store money to buy themselves a treat. He continued his acts of caring by fostering children in need and by sharing his home with adults with disabilities. He also spent many man hours over the years building a 4-wheeler trail for all to enjoy. Roger was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Ronald, Raymond, Richard and Reginald; his sister Harriet and his grandson David. Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Linda (Sawyer) Ryan; his children who were his everything, Sonny McDonald, Roger Ryan Jr., and his wife Samantha and Michelle Ryan and her soon to be husband Buck MacKay; his grandchildren, Jillian Young, Reid Ryan, Jordyn Kneeland and Colton MacKay; his siblings, Kenneth Ryan, Lorraine Cross, Janis Cobb, Jeanne Ryan, Shirley Hawes; his brother by choice, Walter Kenney and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday July 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast ME., followed by burial in the Pease Yard Cemetery, Belmont.
