Obituary of Evelyn M. Simmons

Loving words from Roger Simmons: Evelyn Mae Simmons (Stevens ) May 22, 1947 ------ June 6, 2018 Evelyn M. Simmons was born in Swanville, Maine at home. She worked at Stinson Canning in Belfast, earned her CNA and worked for KNO-WAL-LIN doing in home care. She then went to Harbor Hill Independent Living Center and there became its’ Activities Director for 17+ years. Her full-time work, though, was F-A-M-I-L-Y and she applied herself-Selflessly. Always a giving person who loved un-conditionally-- no strings. Evelyn has been singing all of her life; in school at chorus, in church choir and in her Husband’s (that’s me) Country Gold Band. She and I split off of the band to form Country Gold Dusters and started playing nursing facilities. We had up to 15 per month, once. She sung constantly so I never had to turn on the radio. Evelyn loved performing and contact with the people wherever we sang. She always had hugs, kisses and kind words for all. How hard it is to write these lines and convey to everyone what she meant to them, especially to me. She walked beside me and held my hand for almost 35 years. On June the 6th at 7:22 p.m. she dropped it physically, for the last time. On June the 6th at 7:22 p.m. she picked it up spiritually, and I refuse to let go. A part of me left with her that night. I will always love her. Till we are together again.…………..…...………………………… A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held on Sunday June 24th from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Moose Point State Park Pavilion. All are welcome to come for the day or stop in to share in the celebration of such a beautiful life.
