Obituary of Dorothy A. Small

DOROTHY A. (THOMAS) SMALL, 75 of Swanville, passed away March 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on June 18, 1942, the daughter of Linwood and Frances (Moody) Thomas. Dorothy attended school in both Northport and Belfast. She started her family of seven children in 1959 which kept her very busy raising them as well as working in both poultry plants and Penobscot Frozen Foods. In her later years, she worked at the lunch program at the East Side School which she enjoyed very much. In her free time Dorothy loved to watch game shows, cooking shows and soap operas. She also liked going to Dunkin Donuts to have coffee with the girls and going out to breakfast with her husband. What was most important to Dorothy was time spent with her family. She is predeceased by her parents; her daughter Shirley and son-in law, Mitch. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Herbert L. Small Jr. of Swanville; her children, Patricia Robinson of Melbourne, FL, Frances Mitchell and boyfriend Evan of Swanville, Leona Mitchell and husband Brett of Morrill, Nancy Robinson and husband David of Belfast, Ron Mitchell Jr. and wife Rosamond of Belfast, Brian Small and wife Lisa of Swanville, Evelyn Moulton and husband David of Belfast; her siblings, Russell, Mary, Nancy, Shirley and Eddie; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and life-long friends, Pat Lucas and Marilyn Merrifield. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14th at Riposta Funeral Home where a funeral service will follow on Thursday March 15th at 11 a.m. A spring interment will be held at Smart Cemetery.
