Obituary of Herman LaForest Littlefield

HERMAN LaFOREST LITTLEFIELD, SR., 93 of Belfast, died on January 22, 2018. He was born in Stockton Springs on April 7, 1924, one of 11 children born to John Jayson and Georgia “Nellie” (West) Littlefield. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Herman was married in 1947 to Mereta (Annis) Littlefield and had four children and two step-children: Irene Blood and friend Allen Hayward, Michael Thibodeau and wife Sharon, Herman Littlefield Jr. and wife Patsy, Marcia Gardiner and husband Lohman, Alice Marriner and friend Andrew Littlefield and Jason Littlefield and wife Ruthey; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Vivian Smart, Marilyn Chase, Patricia Reed and husband Theodore, Joyce Feero and husband George; two brothers-in-law Merl Annis Jr., Leon Annis and wife Margene. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Mereta (Annis) Littlefield; sisters Margaret Engberg, Helen Dickey, Jennie Sanborn, Josephine Clements and Iva Kinney; his brothers Harry, Adelbert, Stillman, Washington and Luther Littlefield. At the request of Herman, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service at Grove Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
