Obituary of Lorraine E. Sullivan

Troy- Lorraine Emma Sullivan (n. York) (Gram, Auntie) 85 years old, wife of the late Jeremiah Edward Sullivan II (Jerry), of Troy, Maine, passed suddenly but peacefully November 27, 2017 in Lewiston, Maine with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 22, 1932 in Thorndike, Maine on her grandparent's farm. She was the daughter of Marion Emma Cyr (n. Sargent). Lorraine was raised on her grandparents farm with her sister and very best friend, Sandra Jean, and had a happy childhood. She cherished her time with her grandparents, milking cows and other chores on the farm, and cutting meat with her grandfather. She attended Freedom Academy and always told fond stories of her childhood friends Bernice Blithen and Janette Hayes. She married Jerry on August 25, 1950. They met hanging May baskets and shared 62 1/2 years together. In that time they raised 4 children: Jeremiah Edward III, Brenda Jean and twins Richard Nathan and Ralph Nathaniel. Though she held various jobs outside the home, her passion was working the farm and loved the smell of manure. Lorraine helped her sons with their businesses and taking care of their crews. Everyone knew they could always get a hot meal at the Ranch. The love of her life was her family. Family meant everything to her and she loved spending time with them. Lorraine enjoyed her special outings with her niece, Patricia Anne Hughes. She always kept alive the memory of those who had passed, making sure their stories would be carried on for generations. Lorraine is predeceased by her grandparents: Nat & Emma Sargent; her mother, Marion; her husband, Jerry; her daughter Brenda and son Richard. She is survived by 2 sons and their wives: Jeremiah (Butch) and Liz Sullivan of Thorndike, Ralph and Colleen Sullivan of Thorndike; grandchildren: Tracy and Brad Mulligan of Thorndike, Travis and Adrianne Sullivan of Troy, Jeremiah Sullivan IV (Jay) of Holden, Jared Sullivan of Troy, Randy and Christina Sullivan of Knox, Merri-Ella and Charles Greenberg of Thorndike, Carla and Clayton Ellis of Brooks, Corinna and Ross Boisvert of NH; great-grandchildren: Brett and Garrett Mulligan, Jazzmin and Jenna-Vee Sullivan, Sydney, Micaela and Isaac Ellis, Hannah and Will Boisvert. Her dear sister Sandra Hughes (n. Cyr) and Bernard Sr of CT; nieces and nephew: Patricia Hughes of Palmyra; Bernard Jr (BJ) of CT, Brenda and Michael Vere of MA. Great-nieces Nicolette and Madeline Vere. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held Saturday December 2nd, 3 PM at her childhood home, 217 Reynolds Rd, Thorndike, Maine.
