Obituary of Robert G. Cartier

Robert G. Cartier, 75 of Troy, passed away on November 17, 2017 at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born on October 30, 1942 in Central Falls, RI, the son of Charles E. and Irene (Cochran) Cartier Sr. Robert graduated from Attleboro High School in Massachusetts and after graduation joined the U.S. Air Force. After his service in the military, he attended Bristol Community College and graduated from Rhode Island College with a Masters Degree. In 1978 he began his teaching career as an industrial arts teacher at Woonsocket, RI area Voc. Tech for 25 years. Robert was an avid scuba diver and recreational diver for over 50 years. He was a member of the Old Colony Amphibians of Attleboro, MA and the Boston Sea Rovers as well as the American Legion, Benjamin Berry Post in Unity, Maine. He is predeceased by his parents and twin brother, Ronald. Robert is survived by his spouse of 39 years, Louise (LaChapelle) Cartier of Troy; his children, Robert A. Cartier and wife Stephanie of Waldo, Joshua Cartier of Somerset, MA, Jennifer Joinson and husband Brian of China, Maine; siblings, Janice Leaden and husband Jack of Seekonk, MA, Charles E. Cartier Jr. of Attleboro, MA, Valerie Meunier of Mapleville, RI; grandchildren, Taylor, Bailey, Jordyn and Devin; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special god-daughter Hannah Cole; special friends Don and Joyce Marshall, Maria and Robert Bennett, Joe and Rita Hohmann, Frank and Shari Benoit, Jane Pelland, Trevor and Melanie Cole.
