Obituary of Richard Stevens

Richard “Dick” Stevens, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2nd. The son of Eden Ruth and Herbert Stevens. Dick grew up in Swanville and worked to support his family. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, after which he returned to Swanville and pursued many interests, including mining, making jewelry, gardening, as well as being an active and valued member of the Randall Collins VFW post. Dick touched many lives, but his greatest pride was being a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend, always showing respect and never ending support, guidance, and advice, mixed with a just right amount of tough love. He took pride in his children’s achievements and taught them by example to fear no challenge, but face situations head on “when life went down”. Dick also had a great sense of humor and a stubborn streak, both of which he passed on to his children, as well as teaching them outdoor skills of fishing and hunting. He was a devoted husband and father who is greatly loved and missed by his wife, Leona Stevens; his children Skip Furbush, Mark Furbush, Laurie Furbush, Scott Stevens, Eric Stevens, Patty Stevens, and Amy Stevens; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters Herbert Stevens, Carl Stevens, and LinaMae Littlefield; as well as his dear friends at the Randall Collins VFW post who lovingly referred to him as the “Old Goat”. He is predeceased by his parents, daughter April, grand-daughter Danielle, and sisters Arlene Curtis and Juanita Perkins. A graveside service will be held at the Seekins Cemetery in Swanville on October 18th at 11am, followed by a reception at the Randall Collins VFW Hall. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com
