Obituary of Robert J. Blatz

BELFAST - Robert J. Blatz, 86, passed away on September 18, 2017 at his home in Monroe. Bob was born September 13, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, the only child of Joseph Hoffman Blatz and Cornelia Graves Blatz. He attended schools in the New York area and graduated from Rhoads in 1949. He was an Army tank gunnery instructor from 1950 to 1952. Bob graduated with degrees from NYU, Stoney Brook University and Long Island University. He worked in sales, plumbing, and eventually spent 23 years teaching Industrial Arts, Special Ed and Drivers Ed, his favorite. He retired in 1990. He and his wife, Nancy, moved from Greenlawn, NY to Monroe, Maine in 1998. Bob loved bowling, tennis, golf, fly fishing and fly tying. He was an active member of the Penobscot Fly Fishers. He spent many vacations and summers working on his home in Monroe. Bob was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Blatz, of Monroe, Maine; daughter Darinda Ann Teeling and her husband Phillip of Roswell, GA; son Carl Thomas Blatz and his wife Tawny, of Albuquerque, NM; and grandsons: Sean and Colin Teeling. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service. If desired, memorial gifts may be made in Bob's name to the Penobscot Fly Fishers Club, Brewer, Me or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave, Belfast.
