Obituary of Milton E. Thorndike

BELFAST MILTON E. THORNDIKE, 83 of Belfast, passed away on March 15, 2017 at his home. He was born April 5, 1933 in Belfast, the son of John and Dora (Bunker) Thorndike. He graduated Crosby High School, Class of 1954. He went on to serve two years in the U.S. Army and spent a brief time in Germany. After his discharge from the military, he had a boat built in Nova Scotia and named it Sunset that began his life-long lobstering career which he continued up until his death. His life-long love was lobstering in Penobscot Bay, and he also loved digging clams. Milton also worked building foundations for 15 years as well as working at Penobscot Frozen Foods. Hunting and fishing as well as outdoor sports of all kinds were of great enjoyment to him. He also enjoyed going out to eat with his sister, Irene. He is predeceased by his parents. Milton is survived by his loving sister, Irene Thorndike of Belfast, as well as many friends he has met throughout the years. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd from 4-6 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Graveside services will be announced in the spring at Grove Cemetery, Belfast.
