Obituary of Enlow V. Minick

STOCKTON SPRINGS, MAINE Enlow “Eddie” V. Minick, 97 of Stockton Springs, Maine, passed away on March 9, 2017 in Belfast, Maine. He was born on May 25, 1919 in Frostburg, Maryland the son of Vincent and Evelyn (Ravenscroft) Minick. Eddie quit school in the 8th grade to go to work. In his teen years he worked at a celery farm and as part of the Civilian Conservation Corp. at Yellowstone National Park. He was a cake decorator in a bakery and played in a country-western band on the radio in Asheville, North Carolina all before enlisting in the Army in 1941. Eddie served in the military as a mechanic and drove a Tank Destroyer during World War II until his discharge in 1945. In July of 1943, he married Helen Kozak and after his discharge from the military, they settled in Reading, Pennsylvania and started their family. Eddie worked at the Reading Hosiery, in automotive parts and then at Rockwell Company as a tool grinder until 1981 when he retired. In retirement, he and Helen enjoyed their time with family and friends and trips with their senior groups. In his spare time, he also enjoyed going to the Kenhorst Fire Company in Reading. Eddie loved tinkering with small gadgets and anything battery operated, as well as being a loyal NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was predeceased by both parents; two brothers and one sister. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Helen of Stockton Springs, Maine; his daughter Kathleen Kamzelski of Stockton Springs, his grandchildren, Tanya Blanchard and husband Tom of Thorndike and Kevin Kamzelski and wife Starla of Boyertown, Pennsylvania; nine great-grandchildren; one great-son-in-law and three great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be held at 10 am on Friday March 17 at Gethsemane Mausoleum in Laureldale, Pennsylvania. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday March 21 at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.ripostafh.com.
