Obituary of Everett Young
Everett M. (Pete) Young, 93, of Swanville passed away on Jan. 24, 2017 in Belfast.
Pete was born in Belfast to Charles H (Hick) and Dora (Flanders) Young on May 1, 1923.
He went to Crosby High School in Belfast. He married Lois (Wilcox) on Nov. 11, 1945 in Belfast.
Pete worked at the Republican Journal and then the Bangor Daily News from which he retired after 26 years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees serving in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. Pete was active in the Boy Scouts when his sons were young. He was a 65-year member of the Masons, first in the Timothy Chase Lodge and then went to the Excelsior Lodge 151 in Northport where he served as secretary for 21 years.
Pete was predeceased by his parents, Lois, his loving wife of 67 years. Brothers, Herbert, Charles, Harold and Seldon and sisters, Laura Barr and Mildred Johnson.
Pete is survived by his sister, Hope Murray of Owls Head, children, Joan Taylor and husband Dick of Albion, Malcolm and wife Bonnie of Swanville, Linda Klyne and husband Gerald of Schellsburg, PA, David of Swanville, Martin and wife Susan of Swanville and Bonnie Bowden and husband Kerry of Belmont.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Jane Golden and husband Richard of S. China, John Dillenbeck of S. China, Pamela Young of Searsmont, Patty Edgecomb and husband Tom of Searsmont, Ronald Young and wife Susan of Damariscotta, Laura Young of Swanville, Richard Magno of Boca Raton, FL., Daniel Klyne of Schellsburg, PA., Renee Wood and husband Josh of Belfast, Aaron DeLisle of Belfast, Shana Colby of Swanville and Kelci Iyoob and husband James of San Antonio, TX.
Also many nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He is also survived by people special to him, Catie Wilson and Carrie Ward,
and many relatives, friends and Masonic brothers.
A Spring Internment will be planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Riposta Funeral HOme, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, ME 04915.
