Scott and family, Steven and family and Sheila and family, this news of the loss of your Dad and your Brother Wendall has been a great bereavement to the Story and Lugdon families. Please know how deeply sorry I am in this great loss. Wendall was that older cousin that I always looked up to, admired, and loved being around growing up. Through the years distances kept us from seeing each other often, but familial love and ties always kept him in a special place in my heart. I remember when he met Madeline the great light that came over him in his love for her and for you, Scott and Steven. The special love for you Sheila, as his "Little Sis", there was always that special spot in his life that only a Big Brother can have in his heart. The sadness that I feel is luckily also mixed with the great positive thoughts and memories that accompany having known him as a favorite part of the family. All of us were greatly blessed by knowing him, and especially you his family. My deepest condolences to you all. Greg Foster

My Mom and I are so saddened to learn the news of your Dad's passing. As a guest in your home growing up as neighbors and classmates, it was always Mr. and Mrs. Story to me! They were wonderful people and I'm certain so very proud of their sons and their families. In honor of your Dad's service veterans' remembrance wreaths will be placed in his name this December at Arlington. Godspeed to you all. You're in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I am truly saddened to learn of Wendall's passing. While growing up in Old Town, he was a big part of my life. While I attended high school in South Berwick, I would look forward to our times together while back to Old Town on vacation. We joined the army together on the "Buddy Plan" and attended the army engineering school in Missouri. When we received our choice of duty stations after course completion, I recall how excited Wendall was to return to Maine and to be stationed at Loring. I often kidded him about selecting Aroostook County as an assignment, but his retort was, " I met a special person and that was the best thing to come out of the posting." I have not lived in Maine for many years, but I shall always cherish the memories of being with a special friend. My sincere condolences to the family. Ron Cousins, Elizabethtown, KY

The Big guy as we called him will be sorely missed by many. As the former Sheriff, I for one appreciated the total support and loyalty I have been given over the years from both Wendall and Scott. As I assumed my new roll as the High Sheriff, my best move was bringing the two of them into the agency when I did. Their service to the residents of Waldo County has been exemplary to put it mildly. It was their total dedication to the cause that made my job so much easier. Those who knew Wendall well, knew that at times he could be a bit opinionated. That personal trait was not all bad, for more than once I can recall when his opinions were spot on. I can only hope that as we remember Wendall over these next few days, that we can take comfort in the fact that hopefully he and Madeline are together once again, cruising over those happy fishing grounds they so enjoyed over the years. While his untimely passing has shocked us all, I shall never forget those times when we laughed until the tears flowed, when we worked hard to solve a case that needed attention, and when we truly enjoyed those casual insults that we had so much fun passing off on one another. May you REST IN PEACE Big Guy! Your work down here is done - and you have earned your passage to bigger and greater things. You certainly will be missed.
