Obituary of Michael F Christensen

Michael F. Christensen, our beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, died suddenly on Saturday, June 11, at Downeast Community Hospital in Machias, with many family members by his side. Michael was born January 1, 1968 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts…the child they said we would never have, and for whom we had waited so long. Michael lived every minute of his 48 years to the fullest. He was full of mischief as a child, and never outgrew that talent. He loved to tease. His dad often said Mike loved to torment him by “borrowing” his tools…never to be seen again! He loved his “baby sister”. When she was born, he couldn’t wait to hold her when she came home from the hospital. That was “his baby!” He loved his children, all three of them, through all their happy times, sad times, bad times, good times! He loved his grandchildren: 8 years old, 4 years old, 2 years old, and another on the way. He was loved by so many friends: close ones, some not so close, and even strangers on the street couldn’t help but be drawn to him. Mike is survived by his parents, Ardith and Bernard “Chris” Christensen of Jonesboro, his sister Jennifer Christensen of Wakefield, Massachusetts, his children: Traci Christensen of Ellsworth, Kathryn Christensen and Chad Christensen of Addison, three grandchildren: Kadence Alley and Damien Johnson of Ellsworth and Layla Christensen of Addison; his niece Nila Murugan of Wakefield, Massachusetts; close friends: Melissa Emerson of Addison, with whom he spent these last few years, Chris and Brigette Beal of Addison, members of the Stillwaters Band, which Mike played with since their beginnings, and too many to mention of those “not so close ones”. Mike was a “drummer extraordinaire”. He began banging on his mother’s pots and pans as a baby and began drum lessons in fourth grade (only after his mother made him take two years of piano lessons to give him a real music background). Mike studied music throughout the rest of his school years and could play anything from hard rock to symphonic music. He played with a fife and drum corp, The Cherryfield Band, for many years, and the Stillwaters Band these last few years. We hope that wherever he is, there’s a set of drums for him to play. Mike always said that if and when something happened to him, that he didn’t want any funeral service. Instead, we should all have a big party! We will let all his family and friends know when that will take place. Special thanks to all the staff of Moosabec Ambulance Service, Life Flight Services who made the trip ready to help, the nurses, doctors, and their associates at Downeast Community Hospital for their caring and help, and Direct Cremation of Maine for their support.
