Obituary of William E. LaValley

William E. "Mr. Bill" LaValley, a cherished father, dedicated veteran, and active community member, passed away peacefully at his home on November 10, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on March 23, 1938, in Walpole, Massachusetts.

Mr. LaValley served his country with honor, receiving a discharge after four years as a tank driver in the National Guard of Massachusetts and then another 4 years in the US Army reserves. His professional life was marked by dedication and skill; he worked for 26 years as a certified Master Automotive Technician before retiring as the head of maintenance and security at Norton High School in Norton, MA, a position he held for 19 years. In his retirement, he continued to serve his community as a part-time bus driver for Waldo Citizens Partners for a decade.

A man of service, he was a dedicated Scout Master for Troop 61 in Norton, MA, for 21 years with 21 Eagle Scouts the most by any Scout master. His hobbies included cooking, farming, and building three homes over his lifetime.

He was the son of the late Alfred E LaValley and Dorothy (York) LaValley. He was preceded in death by his devoted wives Sandra Marie LaValley, Pamela Ann LaValley, and Gail Nimiroski.

Mr. LaValley's legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his children: William E. LaValley Jr. and wife Sue (Archdale, NC); Dawn M. LaValley (Bangor, ME); Scott D. LaValley (Belmont, ME); Timothy M. LaValley and wife Cristina LaValley (Burleson, TX); Marcia L. Hancock and husband Eric Abelin (Northport, ME); and Karen Tompkins (Portland, ME), and a son-in-law, Robert Card. He was preceded in death by his children Deborah (LaValley) Card, Robin LaValley, and Lori Ann (LaValley) Kinisky.

He also leaves behind his seven grandchildren—Brian, Jessica, Kristine, Kayla, Jenna, Charlie, and Will —and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Robert Junior.

Brother Reverend Alfred E LaValley Jr. and his wife Nancy (Springfield, MA), sister Sandy Jordan (Waldo, ME). He was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth Harnden (Waldo ME).

His life was a testament to love, family, and friendship.
