Obituary of Shirley Ann Frost
SHIRLEY ANN FROST, 75, passed away June 24, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She was born December 6, 1935 in Winslow to Thomas and Thelma (Weed) Lee. Shirley was a graduate of Erskine Academy, Class of 1955. She retired from C. F. Hathaway Shirt Co, and then she and her husband ran a long time family greenhouse business for years, before they started residing in Florida during the winter months. She was a member of the Red Hats, Kennebec Trail Riders, Family Motor Coach Association and Heart of Maine Squares. She enjoyed knitting afghans, crafts, camping. She was a loving mother and loved her family.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother Robert E. Lee and step-son Dolph Frost. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Donald F. Frost; her children, Brenda (Hopkins) French of South China, Deborah A. (Hopkins) Moody of Augusta, Jeffrey C. Hopkins of Vassalboro; her grandchildren, Nicholas T. French of South China, Jaimie (French) Spaulding and husband Jesse of Marlborough, MA, Michael Moody of Augusta, Alexander Hopkins of Vassalboro, and nephews, Kirk Lee of Atlanta, Georgia, Mark Lee, Robert E. Lee, both of South China; sisters-in-law Evelyn Lee of Fairfield Center, Elizabeth Frost and brother in law Kenneth Frost of North Vassalboro, as well as many other family members and friends.
Graveside services will be held 9 a.m. Friday, July 1st at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Those who wish may make donations in Shirley’s memory to Harold Alfond Cancer Center, 361 Old Belgrade Road, Augusta, ME 04330-8058.
